A Simple Guide To Healing With Color Therapy Or Chromo Therapy
Color is a part of our everyday life. It's in the clothes we wear, the food we eat, the soda we drink, the television we watch, the house we live in, in nature, etc. We see it everywhere, all the time. In fact, it has become so much a part of our life that we probably are not even aware of it. Can we imagine life or the surroundings in black and white? The answer would be a big NO.
How many times have we found ourselves attracted to or having a liking to a particular color. And on occasions, even disliking a particular color. Similarly, we find some colors lift our spirits while other colors make us depressed. Ever wondered why it is so? Why different colors affect us the way they do? It is because color is nature's very own powerful signalling system.
About Color Therapy
White light is made up of 7 different colors having different frequencies (vibrations) and wavelengths of electromagnetic energy. Each color has its own properties which are determined by its wavelength. For instance, the color blue is cooling, green is healing, orange creates stress and red is energetic.
Since ancient times this property of colors to effect a change in the physical, mental and spiritual condition of a human body, has been used to heal it. This system of healing is called color therapy, chromotherapy colorology or chromatherapy. Mention of this therapy has been made in ancient texts of India, China, Greece and Egypt. Color therapy is a complementary system of treatment which uses the healing energy of light through its basic colors, to balance the body's energy centers or chakras. It has been in existence for more than 4000 years.
Ayurvedic practitioners believe that the human body has 7 energy centers or chakras located along the spine. Each color is associated with a specific energy center and a specific location in the body. Also each chakra is associated with specific organ systems and organs. In effect meaning that, each color is organ and organ system specific.

It is interesting to read this! Thank you!
What a fascinating hub! My favorite color is blue and I sing and teach classical music for a living--I am so drawn to that color--
Very interesting! I'm sharing this - I've heard of color therapy before and I do think it can be very helpful. I really like most things that are drug free approaches i stead of some more modern medicine...I think some of the older techniques are really better but if the medical world can't sell a pill...I don't think they want us to know much about it.
I Love this hub, this information. I have always been such a lover of color. I don't think a day goes by that I don't feel thankful for color. I even collect bottles of different hues and place them in windows and places where the sun can shine through them. Now I know that I need to direct these colors in a meaningful way.
Thank you so much for sharing this, rajan jolly.
Color therapy is becoming famous 'cause of its various potential. You have portrayed it beautifully, rajan.
Voted up indeed as useful.
Very interesting information. I didn't know that about colored food. Glad you mention blue is soothing and calming--it's my favorite color. Thanks for sharing and rated up.
I do alot of healing work with my crystals and stones, but I need to learn more on the colors. I know that they are very significant in the chakras, but I haven't studied them enough to understand. I will definately bookmark this hub to go over it more. Thank you for this important information rajan. Voted up. Lisa
Terrific hub. I had no idea that there was so many different color therapy tools. My favorite color is red, I wear it a lot. I also have high blood pressure. Maybe I should switch to pink. Up, useful and interesting.
Dear Rajan,
What an interesting and comprehensive study of colors... In scanning your hubs, they all seem so interesting, due to my love/ teaching of Holistic Nursing.
The two videos were beautiful, educational and soothing...a wonderful adjunct to the information you organized. I will enjoy visiting this again.
Voted UP and UABI. Excellent job, Maria
Dear Rajan,
As an instructor of Holistic Nursing, your articles are so appealing.
I enjoyed your interesting and comprehensive writing style. I found the two videos to be informational, beautiful and soothing.
Voted UP and UABI. Wonderful to meet you. Thank you, Maria
Very interesting hub about color therapy! Thank you rajan! Voted up, shared and pinned in my personal library :)
Great job explaining the benefit of color therapy. When I went in for a facial at a wellness center I was told my skin was inflamed so they would put the blue light on me. I ended up paying quite a bit for this and wonder if I derived any benefit. At least with this therapy there is no risk whatsoever so it's worth a try. Voted up!
This is really interesting - I hadn't heard about color therapy before, but knowing how different colors affect me differently, I can see how it could be helpful. Voted up.
Hi Rajan,
Very interesting and useful hub. I had heard a little about colour therapy many years ago and this very detailed and well research hub has filled in all the gaps in my understanding of this often overlooked topic.
As you know my friend I have delayed sleep phase syndrome and use light therapy to 'wake' me up in the morning. It really does work for me.
I have a special light box that I use to get the right frequency of light.
A reference to it would be a good addition to this hub. I am sure you know the one I am referring too. If not check out my hub on DSPS for the eBay details.
In fact we should exchange hub links as they compliment each other. Let me know what you think.
Michael
Voted up and and tweeting.
Very interesting. I never really thought about complementary colors like that. Voted up!
Hi Rajan,
I have added a link on my hub on DSPS, to this excellent hub.
They do compliment each other very well.
Nice to see these great ideas in action. Thank you my friend.

Super interesting! Voted Up! I've done lots of reading lately on quantum physics and the effects of vibration on...well everything. It was interesting that colors also have frequency and it makes sense that color would effect us, and the rest of the world because each has a specific frequency.
What an interesting hub! Never thought of using color in all of these ways...like colored water, etc. Up, interesting and tweeted.
Very interesting and one I must read again and study
Very interesting. I've studied the affects color has on mood, but I never went beyond that previously. While it's possible that color may affect the physical body, the mind that is affected by color will in turn certainly affect the physical body. Good introduction to this subject. Now I will have to learn more . . .
Hi Rajan, thanks for sharing your knowledge. I never knew about the other ways of using color therapy or chromatherapy. I use healing crystals of different colors. Also, cool to hear you mention "the different frequencies (vibrations) and wavelengths of electromagnetic energy", I'm a musician and this applies to audio waves and sound healing as well. Anyways, cheers and I'm in the process of building my own website to feel free to drop by and leave a comment at www.rootchakrahealing.com
An informative hub! I have heard about therapeutic properties of colors and I learnt more from this detailed hub of yours. Well-done!
Merry Christmas to you & your family!
Thanks for SHARING. Useful & Interesting. Voted up & shared
rajan jolly
this is so intriguing. I know so little about this topic. There is so much to learn about color and therapy. I am bookmarking this to refer to.
thanks for sharing
Sending you Angels this evening. :) ps
Very interesting rajan... Didn't know each colour can effect different organs.. very good voting it up.
