Mangoes. A very important staple in Southeast Asia. My wife is from Cambodia and her parents own a mango farm there. Mangoes are only ripe in Cambodia for about a month so most of the recipes require Green mangoes (unripened). I just read your Hub on Papayas. In Cambodia the papaya are often used in recipes while they are green and unripened as well. Feel free to check out my recipe for Green Papaya Salad: http://jsmatthew.hubpages.com/hub/How-To-Make-Heal

As always, voted up and useful!

J.S, thanks for the read. In India, mangoes are available from start of the summer season till the onset of the monsoon, a good 4 months in a year, different varieties ripening at different times. It starts off with the unripe green mangoes we make pickles, chutneys, etc with.

Thanks for your input. I'll definitely check out this recipe.

I am including a link to this wonderful recipe in my just published hub on benefits of papaya.

Thanks for all the appreciation and votes.

That is very interesting Rajan! You have a great harvest season of mangoes where you are. Where I live in the US I don't have monsoon season but we do have winter and snow. In my wife's native Cambodia, they have only heat and little water. We have a very short growing season in Northern New England. I appreciate the link to my Salad Recipe on your Hub: http://rajanjolly.hubpages.com/hub/Benefits-Of-Pap

Thank you Rajan Jolly!

J.S, Asian countries as such or in fact the tropical regions in Asia, have a longer fruiting season for mango.

Still as mangoes are exported world wide and to the US too, I think it should not be too difficult to get them. Though only the creme de la creme varieties are usually exported.

It's been a fruitful interaction with you. I learned a lot.

Thanks.
